Due to overwhelming demand for Savage Drop In Rifle Barrels, McGowen has added them to our standard product line.
Each barrel is threaded for your receiver, crowned with your choice of crown and fully chambered.

Stainless barrels are offered either polished or matte finish at no extra charge. Chrome Moly barrels are offered in the "white" not blued.

All Savage Drop In barrels are engraved with the cartridge & twist at approximately every 120 degrees. This ensures that when the barrel is properly mounted that one of the engravings will show. (an example would be: 300 WM(10). This means 300 Winchester Magnum and has a 1-10" twist.) This is done for liability reasons.

We do not currently offer in house bluing, but if you would like us to have it done we can arrainge it locally. We also have a local source for ceramic coatings. Please call for pricing quote.

Savage drop in barrels are meant to be installed by qualified gunsmiths. Please ensure that you contact your local gunsmith to ensure that the headspace for your rifle is checked properly before you fire it.

Please note that all chambering services are done to SAAMI specifications due to liability issues. Chamberings done outside of these specifications require a customer supplied chambering reamer and the customer assumes all liability.

Please ensure that when placing the order for the barrel that you inform the salesman of the dimension of your threads as Savage does offer different diameters.

It is recommended that prior to shooting your rifle with a "drop-in" barrel that you obtain and use head space gauges to ensure everything is properly head-spaced. Head space gauges can be obtained through Pacific Tool & Gauge for a reasonable price.
